No injuries reported in Downtown Guelph tent fire

Everyone was safely evacuated after a tent caught fire in St. George’s Square early this morning

There are no reported injuries from a tent fire that happened early this morning downtown Guelph. 

According to police spokesperson Scott Tracey, fire crews and police responded to reports of a tent fire in St. George’s Square around 1:20 a.m. this morning. 

When they arrived, one tent was fully engulfed in flames, Tracey said. 

The occupants of the surrounding tents were evacuated, and no injuries reported. 

The fire was contained to one tent, he said, and was quickly put out. 

Fire Chief Brian Arnold said an investigation is currently underway to determine the fire's origin, cause and circumstance. 

As the investigation is ongoing, he said no other information can be released at this time.
