The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is delighted to announce the success of their June 4 Happy Trails Walk-a-thon, proudly presented by Wellington Laboratories Inc. and supported with media sponsorship from Magic 106.1 and GuelphToday. This large community event was the first of its kind held at GHS’s new location at 190 Hanlon Creek Blvd. in Guelph.

Through the power of community engagement, more than $31,000 was raised by community members who utilized peer-to-peer networks to support the Happy Trails Walk-a-thon.

The event also attracted exceptional sponsorship support, with more than $36,000 generously donated by local businesses. Collectively, the $68,000 raised will go a long way in providing critical resources and support to animals in need within Guelph and Wellington County.

GHS hosted 217 walkers, including 21 teams that took part in the walk, accompanied by more than 80 canine companions.

"We are absolutely thrilled with the tremendous response to the Happy Trails Walk-a-thon. The funds raised will enable us to provide vital care and support to vulnerable animals in our community,” says Lisa Veit, GHS executive director.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to Wellington Laboratories, our sponsors, participants, and all those who contributed to this outstanding achievement. Together, we are making a profound difference in the lives of animals in need."

The funds raised through the Happy Trails Walk-a-thon will support essential programs and initiatives, including animal sheltering, veterinary care, adoption services, and community outreach.
