The Guelph Royals struggles continued Tuesday night with a 4-2 loss to the previously-winless Brantford Red Sox at Hastings Stadium.

After opening the season with a win over Hamilton, the Royals have now lost five straight.

The Red Sox took advantage of its first at bats in the first inning, scoring three times.

Christian Kuzemka hit a double to score Jeremie Veilleux and Nik Burdett, before Iyad Ansari’s single scored Christian Kuzemka to give the Red Sox a lead they wouldn’t give up. In the ninth inning, Burdett hit in Matthew Fabian on a fielder’s choice to seal the victory.

Brando Leroux and Conner Morro hit singles in the seventh inning to bring in the Guelph runs.

Red Sox starter Jeremias Sucre got the win, striking out three and giving up no runs on five hits in five innings of work. Jared Kennedy took the loss.

Guelph plays in Barrie Thursday then hosts Barrie Saturday at 1 p.m.
