P.A. man remains in custody on weapons charges

A Prince Albert man charged with 30 weapons-related and drug offences remains in custody after being arrested by the Prince Albert Integrated Crime Reduction Team during a traffic stop.

Kevin Ackegan, 40, appeared in provincial court March 10 for a bail hearing. He was arrested Feb. 26. 

When police searched his vehicle they found Canadian, U.S. and Jamaican currency. They also located two firearms, methamphetamine, cash, ammunition, Gabapentin pills, bear spray, hydromorphone, a machete, and a knife. 

Police also arrested a woman, 33, and charged her with possession of a controlled substance. They haven’t released her name. 

Ackegan reappears in Prince Albert Provincial Court March 13.
