Passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at Hospice Wellington, Guelph, on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. Tony Aimola age 95 years, was the beloved husband, of 72 years, of Mafalda (Finoro) Aimola. He was the loving father of Vicki Veri and her late husband Freddy (2017), Susanna and her husband Mike DeAngelis, and Ron Aimola and his wife Jo Anne Waters. Tony was the proud Nonno of Roberto, Deanna, Michael, Sara, Amanda, Emily, and Jesse, and Bis-Nonno of Samuel, Anna, Rebecca, Paolo, and Gianluca. Predeceased by his parents, Aladino and Filomena (Moretti) Aimola, and also by his sisters and brother, Grazietta, Iolanda, Vittoria, and Dante. Fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Anna Finoro, and by his many nieces and nephews.

Tony was a Veteran of WWII in Italy. He trained as a Blacksmith in his home town of Rocca San Giovanni, Italy, and later immigrated to Canada in 1950 with his wife and daughter where he settled in Guelph and found work with International Malleable Iron. Tony later went to work with Hastings Welding where he learned the welding trade. In 1957 he started his own welding company, Alloy Welding with his brother-in-law John Finoro and his cousin Dino Finoro. He maintained ownership of this company for over 50 years. Tony loved Canada, and especially the city of Guelph. He contributed to many projects such as the Family fountain in St. George’s Square, the Blacksmith fountain in Priory Square, the Covered Bridge, the Blossom Express train, and numerous church projects. Tony certainly left his mark on the city he loved, and on his friends and family, and his church community.
