April 29, 1930 - June 26, 2021

Dorothy Eva Amy (Schultz) was born in 1930 to the late Stanley and Eva Schultz. She grew up on a farm near Woodstock and when not hard at work, shared many adventures and laughs with her siblings Harold (Grace), Betty (Lloyd), Bernice (Jim), Shirley (Ford), and Marie (Gord). She loved being an aunt to her many nieces and nephews, and cherished occasions she was able to socialize with them and their families.

Dorothy shared 58 years of marriage with her soulmate and late husband John Charles Amy (1924 - 2011), with whom she proudly raised their two sons, John Stephen (Rimona) and Peter Charles (Lynn).

Dorothy was an extremely loving 'Granny' to Kayla-Wray (Jamie) and Desmond (Ania), and most recently 'Great Granny' to baby Everett, who she had the pleasure of meeting in person for the first time days before her passing.

Dorothy had a dynamic, energetic, and kind personality, which served her well throughout her nursing career. She graduated from Woodstock General Hospital in 1952 and continued working there after graduation, gravitating to obstetrics. Her “others first” mentality helped her contribute over fifty years to the profession, including more than 27 years as a specialist and charge nurse in neonatal care at St. Mary’s Hospital in Montréal.

Dorothy touched many lives throughout the course of her life and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Special thanks to staff and health care teams at The Elliott Community Retirement Home and Guelph’s St. Joseph's Health Care Centre for all the kindness and loving care they have provided for Dorothy over the last decade.

The family hopes you will share your stories and memories of Dorothy freely, and often. Donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be most welcome. Donation cards are available at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, 519-822-4731 or online at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com.

A celebration of life will be scheduled when conditions allow.
