It is with deep sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Michael David Anderson peacefully on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the age of 71.

Mike is survived by his wife of 46 years Nancy (Leishman), his son Steven (Louise Frost), and his granddog Eddie. Mike was the cherished uncle of Cassie Parks (Ken) and family. Missed by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim and Judy Leishman. He is predeceased by his parents Fred and Phyllis Anderson (English) and his brother Dennis.

Mike was born in Brantford, Ontario and moved to London, Ontario as a toddler. Growing up in London, Mike developed a love for rock music, cheering for dreadful professional sports teams (imagine a lifetime of supporting the Cleveland Browns), and conversation. One conversation with Mike and you were his best friend. He graduated from Western University in 1972 and settled in Guelph, began a family and spent 38 years working with Corrections Ontario. It was a perfect career choice for a chatty guy with such captive audiences.

Mike developed a passion for travel and was fortunate to see much of the world, including a magnificent two month-long journey to New Zealand and Australia. While in Australia Mike was thrilled to spend a week with Beryl and her husband John. Mike and Beryl’s fathers became lifelong friends after serving in the same Lancaster bomber crew during World War II.

Mike experienced a wonderful life and set terrific examples of being caring, compassionate, and generous to all who met him.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses at Guelph General Hospital ICU for their exemplary care and compassion during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Guelph Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made in person at the funeral home by cash or cheque or online following the link below his obituary www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com.

Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St. Guelph, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Mike’s life will occur in the spring when hopefully the world is in place to gather more safely.
