Peacefully passed away at her home in Guelph on Sunday, July 2, 2023, in her 100th year. She was the beloved wife of the late Elias. Proud and loving mother of Kosta, Sotiri, Christine, (Greg), and Panagiota (Dimitri). Cherished γιαγιά of Nick, Louie, Simon, Theoni, Sophia, Jessica, Sophia, Kostadinos, Nadia and Elaine and lastly, adored great-γιαγιά of Gabriel, Luca, Nicholas, Nefeli, Dimitri, Rhea, Dimitri and Leo.

Born in 1924, Sophia was a strong, fiercely independent woman who worked the fields as a young girl alongside her adoring father, Kostadinos. She continued to do so well into motherhood while caring for her four sweet (yet sometimes rambunctious) children. Despite loving her home village of Kouvela, Sophia made the difficult decision of immigrating to Canada in 1967 where she joined her husband in the hopes of providing more opportunity for her children.

Sophia was a courageous heart and force of nature who, through grit and devotion to her family, carved a life for the generations after her. Everything she did was for the betterment of others.

Living at the memorable Danforth home in Withrow Park and later Kortright Road in Guelph (or rather, "Yiayia's house" as known by her grandchildren), the mountains of Kouvela would always be Sophia's true home, and naturally, her final resting place.

There will never be another like our yiayoula. She will be deeply and truly missed.
