BALL, Trevor Vernon

Posted

Ball Trevor MM
(1927 – 2021)

Tom began his final voyage on May 12th, 2021.  Born and raised in Wales, he served in World War ll in the British Merchant Navy and later as a merchant seaman shipping all over the world. He came to Guelph to visit in 1949 and ended up staying for the rest of his life as he met Mary Ruth Cox (1993) and they were married in 1950. Left behind to miss his stories are his wife, Nancy McPherson; Daughters, Victoria (Allan) Howie; Ruthanne (late Brian 1982) Finnigan and Patricia (Dirk Gosselink) Ball, his 7 grandchildren, who he was so greatly proud of and all their accomplishments, his 9 great grandchildren who never ceased to amaze him; and his many nieces, nephews, and friends. Tom will be remembered by the McPherson Family.

Tom's life was always full and interesting. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, walking, reading, traveling, woodworking and he made friends wherever he went.

Tom retired from Guelph Hydro at the young age of 55, allowing him to be able to be a large part of his grandchildren’s lives. Going on school trips and taking them on several adventures (his own personal development days!), saying “what better education is there, than spending a day away with Gramps.”

Tom was a master of the art of storytelling and especially his stories of growing up in Wales.  Tom enjoyed all the little things that life has to offer. He’d say “be curious, keep your eyes open and you will learn plenty”!

This past year, Tom had been residing at the Village of Winston Park in Kitchener, entering just a month before COVID lockdown.  The staff say that Tom would keep spirits high playing his spoons and telling his stories! Our family want to thank the Eby Neighbourhood staff for their continuous care and compassion.

Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service was held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph, Ontario.  Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051.

If so desired, memorial donations to Hospice Wellington, World Vision, The Humane Society, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

A tree will be planted in memory of Trevor V. Ball in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
