October 15, 1931 - October 12, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of June Bamber (nee Hunt) at The Elliott Community, 3 days before her 92nd birthday. Predeceased by her husband of over 69 years John Bamber.

Beloved mother of Charles Bamber (Anna Baoutina) of Sydney Australia, Susan Ingram (Peter Pascetta), Wendy Azzopardi (Albert) both of Guelph and Mary Bamber (David Carere) of Waterloo. Proud grandmother of Bryn, Alanna, Renee (Malcolm), Masha, Nolan (Leah), Nicola (Nate), Sydney, Johnathan, Adam, Jack and Maximus. Loving great grandmother of Shae, Maisie, Elora, Emmett, Elwood and Zoe. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in the United Kingdom. Predeceased by brother Reginald and parents Stanley and Elsie Hunt. Godmother to John Whittaker and Anne Dodd.

June was born in Carlisle, UK, 4 miles from the Scottish border. She grew up during the second world war with rations and hardships. June left school at 13 years old to begin work to help support her family. John and June emigrated to Canada in 1952 as newlyweds and built a life together in Guelph, Ontario. The most important thing in June’s life was family whom she loved fiercely. June chose to stay home and raise her children. She sewed her children’s clothes and was an avid knitter. As her children got older, she decided she wanted to return to work, but was told she had few prospects with no education. At the age of 47, June returned to school and obtained a bookkeeping diploma from Conestoga College. With her new skill set she became the receptionist at the Royal Conservatory of Music. After her retirement, June worked for many years as a volunteer at Homewood Health. She was kind and generous to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A heartfelt thank you to the 4th floor staff at the Elliott Community for your excellent care over the past 2 years.

Cremation has taken place. The family will receive their friends at the Brombal Funeral Home (formerly Gilchrist Chapel – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home), 1 Delhi St., Guelph on Thursday, October 19th, 2023 from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at Trinity United Church, 400 Stevenson St. N. Guelph, on Friday, October 20th, 2023 at 1:00 pm, with a light reception to follow. A private family service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
