Passed away suddenly at Guelph General Hospital on Saturday, may 13, 2023, at the age of 88 years. Beloved husband of Betty Barnes (nee Kostal). Loving father of Paul (Sandy), Cathy and Darlene. Cherished Papa of Chantel (Michel), Melissa (James) and Matthew (Brad). Great Papa to Jacob, Eric and Luke and will receive that honour once again in November with an expected new great grandson. Survived by his brother Allen (Marylee). Predeceased by his sister Ethel and brothers Lloyd, Howie, Harold, Freddy and Raymond, his parents Frederick and Coralee Barnes. Gord was an avid hunter, enjoyed golf, fishing, working in the outdoors, bowling and cribbage. Most of all, he was known as a “Family Man”.
Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Gilchrist Chapel – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street , Guelph. A Celebration of Gord’s life will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
