After a seven-year battle from injuries sustained in a traumatic accident, Peter passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the age of 67 at Linhaven Long Term Care, St. Catharines.

Loving and proud father of Christopher. Loved and supported by Christopher’s mother Lori.  Much loved brother to Merilee (Tim) Howley of New Westminster, BC, Roger (Peggy) Barnsley of Fonthill, ON and the late Jonathan (Cheryl) Barnsley of Jordan.  Cherished uncle to his nieces Cassidy and Justine.  Predeceased by his parents Roland and Helen Barnsley.

Peter had a lifelong love of sports, which led him to work with the Ontario University Athletic Association, the Upper Grand District School Board, and he ran his own business – Peter Barnsley Sports Media.  During his long career, he acted as a statistician, journalist, broadcaster, referee, umpire and sports coordinator.

Friends will be received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 12 noon until 1 pm. A heartfelt thank you to Sandra’s Home Health Care, the nursing staff at Linhaven LTC, and all of those who cared for Peter during his long journey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Hamilton Health Sciences Acquired Brain Injury Program would be appreciated.
