After a courageous, and brave battle with cancer, Jason passed away peacefully, with his family by his side at his home in Guelph on Sunday, March 26, 2017. Jason Barrett in his 40th year, was the beloved son of Christopher and Doreen (Teeter) Barrett of Guelph. He was the loving brother of Ryan and his partner Jessica van Ouwerkerk, and Rebecca and her husband Ben Wideman. Jason was the dear grandson of Bill Barrett and the late Gladys (2001) and of the late Cecelia Rose Teeter. He was the super hero uncle of William, and is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jason was the strong silent type, with a big heart, and a special ability to form lasting friendships. Especially with his many cousins. He was employed with Cargill for many years, and had a love for movies, music, reading, and writing.
Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, where the family will receive their friends on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Vigil for Jason will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Rosary Church 175 Emma St. Guelph, on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to a cancer charity of your choice, the Canadian Diabetes Association, or to a mental health charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
