Passed away, peacefully, with his family by his side, at Wellington Terrace, Fergus, on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Bill Barrett, in his 95th year, was the beloved husband of the late Gladys (nee Keough) Barrett (2001). He was the dear father of Peter (Margriet), the late David (1999) (Gayle), Christopher (Doreen), Timothy (Charlene) and William, Jr. He is fondly remembered by 11 grandchildren: the late Jason (2017), David (Amanda), Justin (Mandy), Amy (Damien), Ryan (Jessica), Lisa (Mark), Bradley (Tessa), Chantelle, Rebecca (Ben), Michael (Jeyanthy) and Stacey (Ron) and by 11 great-grandchildren. Bill is survived by and loved by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Helen (nee Foltz) Barrett and by his siblings Jack (late Patricia), Margaret (late Terry Flynn), and Joseph (late Ida). Bill was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1507 and Assembly 2510 as well as a long-time member of the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate. Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Vigil for Bill will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, 28 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 10 a.m. Entombment, Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum, Marymount Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donation to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated by the family.
