Passed away peacefully on August 14, 2022 after a long journey with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease.

Saul (Shlomo) was born on September 9, 1942 to loving parents Genia and Jacob Barth in the midst of WWII. He grew up in Israel with his brother Joseph Barth. He came to Canada in 1965, met his wife in Toronto in 1968 and chose to raise his family in Guelph, Ontario. Saul opened Gas Up Car Wash in 1971 and was committed to it until his retirement in 2017. He was a respected board member of the Canadian Carwash Association for 25 years and a committed member of the Beth Isaiah Synagogue community for as long as he lived in Guelph. Saul always valued family, community and Judaism.

Saul had an iron-clad inner strength that carried him through a life full of adventure and adversity, from life as an infant fleeing the holocaust to leaping from planes as an Israeli paratrooper, the tragedy of losing his eldest daughter, and facing the grim later year realities of debilitating dementia. He was entrepreneurial, wilful and deliberate, hard-working, determined and resolute, kind and gentle, caring and selfless. Devoted husband of 53 years to Goldie Barth. Loving and loved father of Aviva Barth (April 20, 1974 – August 7, 2004), Jennifer Barth (Chris Brauer) of London, England and Aaron Barth (Elise Wickett) of Eden Mills. Proud Zee Zee of Maxwell and Delilah Brauer and trusted older brother to Joseph Barth (Hadassah Barth) of Israel. He was adored by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. We wish to thank the caregivers who provided care for Saul at home for the last few years.
