Ghislaine passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Guelph on Thursday, November 9th, 2017. Beloved wife of Jim Bates. Loving mother of Cary (Tracey) of Cambridge and Peter (Sarah) of Toronto. Cherished grandmother of Benjamin, Sam and Zac. Dear sister of Lisette Geoffroy (Francois "Butch") of Holtyre and Real of Matheson. Predeceased by her siblings Bernard Melancon, Gaston Melancon, Yvon Melancon and Pierrette Caissy. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and numerous dear friends. Ghislaine was a much loved grade 3 teacher for 35 years. She will be sadly missed by many friends and relatives. Special thanks to Dr. Isla McPherson and St. Joseph's for the wonderful care they gave to Ghislaine.
Friends will be received at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 7-9 pm and Saturday, November 18 from 1-2pm. A memorial service for Ghislaine will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, November 18 at 2:00 pm. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Health Centre.
