With heavy hearts we, the Bauer, Seftel and Kuntz families, announce the passing of our mom, grandma and great-grandma, Marion Jean Bauer (nee Zinger) at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Guelph, on Saturday, February 27, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late Garfield Bauer (2008), the loving mother to Mary Ellen and her husband Dave Seftel, and to Julie Bauer. Marion was the cherished and admired grandmother to Christopher and his wife Kate Seftel, to Amy Seftel and her partner Dave Sacco, to Alexander and Julian Kuntz; and she was the great-grandmother to Mason Seftel. Marion will be missed by many, especially by her daughters.
Marion was a strong and beautiful lady, with elegant style, gorgeous white hair, and stunning blue eyes. Her husband, Garfield, our dad and grandpa, was the love of her life. With his passing, Marion demonstrated great resilience by showing us how to carry on with grace and how to enjoy life, knowing every moment is precious. She was an avid reader of books and newspapers. Marion had a sharp, curious mind. She was an organized person, and could always be relied upon; and as she would say, “Everything had a place.” Our families will visit and revisit the many memories she left for us to hold onto and to treasure, and yes, there are many. Thank you, Mom. You are most loved.
We are grateful for the affection and kindness shown to our mom by the caring staff at St. Joseph’s Health Care Center and the Guelph General Hospital. The visitation will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, on Tuesday, March 1st, 2016 (Marion's 91st birthday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Vigil for Marion will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Basilica of Our Lady, 28 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Marymount Cemetery, Guelph. In lieu of flowers, the families request donations be made to the St. Joseph's Health Care Center--resident recreation program--in which Marion participated in and enjoyed deeply. Cards are available at the funeral home (519-922-4731) or condolences may be sent to www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com
