Proud father of Alex and Janette, brother to Hilary in Australia and delightfully professorial to his grandchildren Maya, Birch, Elliot, Tate, Saxon, Lex and Jesse.
He was a many-lettered seed scientist, book author and inspiring teacher to generations of students. Special thanks to all caregivers in Guelph, the Billies, dear friends and neighbours, and for the inspiring support of his research colleagues and post-doc students worldwide, many of who have contributed significantly to seed science throughout their careers. Succumbed to cancer on February 24 after a prolonged battle, diligently wielding his red editing pen until the end.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk Street, Guelph, ON, Wednesday, March 1st, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre.
