Passed away, peacefully, at her home in Guelph, on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. Betty (Dean) Blackie, in her 89th year, was the beloved wife for sixty-three years, of the late Ernest J. Blackie (2014). She was the dear mother of Lynn (late John Grieve), Teresa McEvoy (Jon Sweete), Marian Cathro, Dora Amaral and Cindy Ellig. Betty is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-granchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Cathy Denholme (2006) and by her granddaughter Marjory Grieve (1994). She was the dear sister of Floradean (Sister Donata), Rose Dean (Posey), Terry Terrey and of the late Bill Dean and the late Frank Dean.
Cremation has taken place. A private Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church with entombment of Ashes in Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum, Marymount Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
