Terence Bottomley
We have lost our Song Bird who brightened our lives on a daily basis. Terry Bottomley, born in Bradford, England on August 12, 1929 and passed away peacefully in Guelph, Ontario on February 12, 2019.

Terry was predeceased by his son John, his parents and 3 brothers. He was the loving husband for 62 years to Denise (nee: Coles) and the beloved father of Paul, Christopher and Kevin. Cherished grandfather of Alistair, Connor, Levon, Brooke and Nolan.

Terry attended St. Bedes Grammar School in Bradford, England which instilled in him a strong faith. He then did his 2 years of British Army National Service in the Middle East. On return to England, he apprenticed in the woolen trade, which eventually enticed him to Canada in 1953. Terry then joined the RCAF. He had many tours of duty, accompanied by his wife and 4 boys, pulling a trailer behind them as they explored Europe and Western Canada. On retirement from the Air Force, he came full circle and worked in the Guelph Correctional Centre in the wool department. His love of sports included soccer and golf. His wit and fun loving nature endeared him to all whom he came in contact with. Many thanks to all the staff and Dr. Stemerdink at St. Joseph’s Long Term Care who always showed compassion and jollied him along in his last illness.

His family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, 28 Norfolk St., Guelph on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. If so desired, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, Hospice Wellington or the St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
