Of Guelph, passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington on Saturday, June 22, 2019, in his 92nd year.
Beloved husband of Lily Briant of 63 years.
Loved father of David (Brenda), Peter (Doreen), Steven, Paul (Denise) and Tim.
Cherished grandfather of Elisabeth, Sarah, Sam, Nathan, Jonathan and Michael.
Loving great-grandfather of Jade, Tasia and Kennedy.
Predeceased by daughter Brenda and brothers Norman and Orville.
Friends will be received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Wednesday from 7 – 9 pm. and Thursday from 9:30 – 11 am. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 11 am.
Burial will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre.

A tree will be planted in memory of Melvin (Mel) Briant in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 2:30 pm.
