Of Guelph, passed away peacefully in her 91st year on June 6, 2017 at Hospice Wellington. Loved mother of Thomas (Michal Goode) and fond grandmother of Ursula. Predeceased by her beloved husband of almost sixty years, Thomas Carmichael, who passed away in 2007. Jo is survived by her brother, George Mooney, two sisters, Gloria (Mike) Ferringo and Isabelle (Jim) Kuenzig, all of Guelph, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters Ella and Anna and by her brothers John, Henry, and Donald. Jo was a lifelong resident of Guelph and an active volunteer in her middle years. At Jo’s request, there will be no visitation or formal funeral. There will be a graveside service for family and friends in Woodlawn Cemetery in Guelph at 11:30 am on Monday, June 12, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Josephine Carmichael to Hospice Wellington or to the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital.
A tree will be planted in memory of Josephine E. (Jo) Carmichael in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:30 pm.
