It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Nona and Bis-Nona, Eda. She passed away on Saturday March 25, 2023 at the age of 94, at the Palliative Care at St. Joe’s Health Centre surrounded by her loving family who kept vigil by her side on her last days.
Eda was born in Guelph, Ontario where she attended school and worked. She married and some years later, after welcoming the birth of her children, the family moved to Italy. They lived in Torino (1970 – 1978) where her husband worked.
Eda is predeceased by the love of her life, Fioretto (1988), her sons Joey (1956) and Jerry (1961).
She is survived by her children, Paul (Mary Jo), Mark (Susie), Danny (Suzanne) and Judy (Tim). Her grandchildren, Stefan (Kate), Madison, Brandon (Gabrielle), Brittany (Garrett), Ryan, Selena, Vanessa (John), Reid (Chrisalyn). Her beautiful great-granddaughter Sophia whom she adored.
Our mother was devoted to her family and nothing gave her more pleasure than having all of us around her. Her world revolved around her grandchildren and she would melt being with her great-granddaughter. Eda is predeceased by her parents Giuseppe (Mena) (1955) Piovesan, her mother Noemi (Mamie) (1999), her sister Nora Iles (1998) and her sister Elsie Piovesan (2011) and by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law both in Canada and Italy. She will be missed by her brother-in-law Luciano (Chano) Case and his wife Lisa and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.
We would like to thank the staff at Arbour Trails where Eda was a resident for the past 3 years. The staff at 4West at the Guelph General Hospital and at the Whispering Oak Unit at St. Joe’s.
Eda is resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, where the family will receive their friends on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 6- 9 p.m. and Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 9 - 10 a.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 10 a.m. Interment in Marymount Cemetery, Guelph at 10:45 a.m. followed by reception at Springfield Golf Course, 2054 Gordon St., Guelph.
