Son of George & Eleanor Jackson, George (Geordie) S. Jackson, environmentalist, political activist, and fine food connoisseur, died on February 9, 2023. His siblings Ian (& Jenny) and Susan (& Paul), and niece (Caitlyn) are honored and blessed to have walked with him through life.

Geordie spent the first half of his life in Milton, Ontario, where natural places like Rattlesnake Point, Hilton Falls and Woodland Trails Scout Camp helped form his passion for the environment. Scouting was very important to his developing of lifelong friendships as he actively participated in Cubs through to Rovers, receiving the Queen’s Venturer and Duke of Edinburgh awards’ before becoming a Scout Leader.

He attended the University of Guelph and after short spell in Toronto, was drawn back to the city of Guelph. Here he found a fantastic neighborhood to live in, continued to explore his love for the outdoors and was an avid participant and supporter of the local music scene. Most importantly, Guelph was where he found his tribe – people he loved and was a loyal friend to.

Those who knew his mother Eleanor, would say he took after her in his looks and calm outlook. He took after his father George in his passion for connecting politics to protecting the environment. He became actively engaged in the Green Party and contributed to numerous initiatives to preserve lands for conservation.

Geordie was a devoted uncle to Caitlyn and a supportive big brother to siblings Ian and Susan. He would offer guidance when asked and then engaged in helping with their chosen paths. Geordie was a loyal and key member of our tightknit family – tolerant, devoted and relishing all our many adventures and travels.

Geordie’s celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2023 starting at 4:00pm at the Spring Mill Distillery, 43 Arthur St. S. Guelph.
