Mrs. Eileen Chamberlain, the Matriarch of our family has left this earth in her 93rd year.
She is predeceased by her husband William Russell Chamberlain (1992).
Beloved mother of Donna Marie Church, Peter Robert Chamberlain, Trevor
Chamberlain and Suzy Chamberlain Taylor. Dear grandmother of Rob, Scott,
Jennifer, Jill, Jason and Graham. Known as GG to her great-grandchildren Justin,
Andrew, Evan, Ben, Elliot, Alexander, Audrey and Bertie. Friend to many – with a smile
to offer always.

Eileen came to Canada as a war bride in 1946 and settled in Guelph. She
was not only a good mother and wife, but she had many careers from working
for Bell Telephone (despite having a deaf ear which she kept hidden as
operators were supposed to switch their headsets regularly), to raising
top show dogs (top Maltese in Canada in 1983) and receiving a 50 year
honour from the Canadian Kennel Club. She started Guelph’s first day care,
the Jack and Jill Nursery in 1954, which is still running today. The
opening ceremony was performed by Mrs. Olive Worton, wife of the Guelph
Mayor at the time, Harry Worton. Eileen was also a founding member of the
Guelph Little Theatre.

Gardening and planting trees gave Eileen such joy, something that was
passed onto her by her father, Eri Smith. She passed this love of nature
onto all of her children. Such a life so humbly lived and deeply loved.

In honour of Eileen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family
service has taken place. A celebration of Eileen’s life will be held at a
later date. Please contact Suzy Chamberlain Taylor for further details
(416-709-4725). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Guelph
Humane Society or the Donkey Sanctuary would be greatly appreciated by the
family. Online donations and condolences can be made at

Never forgotten, always loved.
