With great sadness, we announce the passing of Andrew Cleary (Weeman) on Friday, March 29th, 2024, with loving family by his side.

He will be missed by his partner, Kim Shimizu and her two sons, Anthony and Mackenzie (Dalla Lana).

A loving Stepfather to Jeffrey Theriault (Jenn), and Chad Theriault (Steph) and loving Papa to grandchildren Abigale, Parker, Hunter and Brooklyn Theriault.

We know this loss will be felt by so many, but in particular, his mother, Isobel Cleary and sister, Yvonne, brother and sister-in-law Derek and Nancy, and brother and sister-in-law David and Heather. Missed by nieces Suzanne and Kathleen, nephews Brian, David, Geoffrey, Kristopher, Dylan, Stephen, Matthew and Allan.

Our family finds joy in knowing he has been reunited with his father, William, and brother John.

Andrews’s most cherished moments were spent on the golf course, playing and joking alongside his best friend of 55 years, Ken Fleming.

He was a proud member of Guelph Transit for almost 24 years as an operator and a proud, two-term ATU 1189 union president.

Andrew loved to speak about his beautiful vacations and snorkeling in the clear blue waters of Belize.

He was always a big supporter of the Guelph Storm hockey club and enjoyed working for them as a scorekeeper and penalty box attendant. Go Storm Go!!!

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Guelph Country Club, 133 Woodlawn Rd. E., Guelph, on Saturday, June 15th, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. for all to come and share stories of Andrew.

In Andrew’s memory, a tree will be planted in his name at the Guelph Country Club.

Donations in Andrew’s name can be made to First Tee Ontario, a junior golf program to help financially assist and empower kids to grow the game of golf.

‘Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots, and you get good breaks from bad shots—but you have to play the ball where it lies.’ -Bobby Jones
