A pianist and teacher, passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at the age of 88.

Rosemary taught piano and music theory in Guelph for many years.  She was also the pianist for the Guelph Light Opera Company and was the organist and choir director at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. For 25 years, she played piano and harpsichord in the Stratford Festival Theatre, and in later years was a conductor of the Festival Theatre orchestra.  As well, Rosemary taught piano with the University of Guelph Department of Fine Arts.  After she retired, Rosemary was a Senior Level examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music.  Rosemary was an extraordinarily gifted pianist and teacher who was an inspiration to so many of her students. 

Rosemary leaves her life partner, Bruce French; her daughters, Ruth, Shelagh, and Alison; grandsons Brenden and Sean; and sisters Sheila, Miriam, and Heather. 

A memorial service will be held at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Sunday, November 13th, 2022 at 1 pm. Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Guelph Humane Society or Hospice Wellington
