COMMISSO, Enza (nee Titone)

Posted

Commisso Vincenza

Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her adoring family, on Wednesday, October 19, 2016. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Frank; her children, Rocco (Alison) and Laurie; and her granddaughters, Nina and Carmela. Her mother Piera, her sisters Patricia and Lori and their families find comfort in knowing that Enza has now been reunited with her father Raffaele in heaven. Enza had a powerhouse spirit, with a personality to match, that shone through even in the face of hardship and adversity. She was the lioness of her family. Her passion for being a Nonna was all-consuming, and she protected and nurtured her loved ones in a way only she could. Enza was a fixture in our community, as the smiling face that greeted patrons at the West End Recreation Centre for 14 years; she was a gifted "people person," and her commitment to making the lives of others better is her legacy. She was a tireless volunteer (and often "voluntold" others to get involved, when helping hands were needed). As a natural leader, Enza found an outlet for her passions by serving as union president of CUPE 973. She was a Rosie the Riveter for the modern day-an icon that both suited and inspired her, as she believed in equality, fairness and the ability to make a difference. Enza's generous, outgoing and positive nature made an immediate and lasting impact on anyone who met her. Her strength and courage in the face of cancer is an inspiration to us all. She will always be a warrior to those who loved her. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, where the family will receive their friends on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Vigil for Vincenza will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at the Basilica of Our Lady 28 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Women in Crisis Guelph-Wellington would be appreciated by the family.
