COOMBS, David

Dave Coombs passed away peacefully on October 28th 2021, at the age of
ninety. Dave leaves behind his beloved wife and love of his life,
Margaret Coombs. He was a devoted father to Lawrence and Denise Coombs
and adored their spouses, Rosemarie Coombs and Robert Hatton. Dave was a
proud grandfather to Luke, Mackenzie and Alex Coombs, Reilly Cservenyi,
and Jasper and Jessie Hatton. Lawrence and Denise are forever grateful
for the babysitting! Dave was great-grandfather to Jameson, Maddie and
Rowan; and he was a loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Dave hailed from a large family in Upper Island Cove, Newfoundland. He
is predeceased by sibllings Eric, Don, Angus, Ted, Harold, and Lorna
(Mossop). He is survived by siblings Vera (Butler), Lincoln, and Alex.

His granddaughter Jessie sums up Dave’s essence this way:

“He never let anyone forget how much he loved them. Saying I love you
with each greeting and goodbye…showing up to every event that mattered
to you (countless dance and band recitals, synchro meets, hockey, soccer
and basketball games, graduations - he was always there), squeezing your
hand in the back of the car, smiling from ear to ear when he made you
laugh….He did not need material things or recognition to be fulfilled,
all he desired was for his loved ones to be happy. He taught us how to
show affection and to value family and how to treat strangers with
kindness.”

A few days ago, Dave told us that he was ready to go to Jesus. He left
this earth with no regrets, no “I love you” left unsaid. We are
heartbroken and we are full of gratitude for his life and the love he
shared so generously with us all.

Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel,
visitation will take place on Thursday, November 4th, 12:30pm-2:00pm at
Gilbert MacIntyre & Son, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph followed
by a Funeral Service in the Hart Chapel at 2:00pm. A live stream of the
service will be available via the ZOOM link below his obituary on his
memorial page at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com . Due to COVID
restrictions, guests must RSVP their attendance using the link below his
obituary for both the visitation and/or the Funeral Service. No proof of
vaccination is required but masks are mandatory and social distancing
will be in place.
