With mournful hearts, we share the news of the passing of James Edward Cunnington, 68 years and young-at-heart until the end of a valiant three year fight against cancer, a luminous soul who made many a home more home-y.

He is survived by his loving wife Linda; his children Alisa (Brian), Shanan, Trevor (Evan) and Mandy (Anthony); his grandchildren Bishop, Mattias and Lily; mother Ella Cunnington; mother-in-law Ann Taylor; brother Rob (Jane); sister Shirley (Glenn); sisters-in-law Diane (Ron), Debbie (Tom), Denise and Kim; brothers-in-law Tony (Staci), Larry and Russell; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

We will never forget your clever puns, your dogged determination, your generous ways, your ingenuity, or your love. You will live forever in our lives and the lives of those who tread in our footsteps through the twisting paths of life. Your ashes will find the home they long for most.

Friends and family will celebrate Jim’s life at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, the city he called home his entire life, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017, with a reception to follow. Guests are encouraged to share their memories of Jim at the reception.

Due to allergies, please do not send flowers. In lieu of flowers, and according to Jim’s wishes, memorial contributions to the St. Mary’s Foundation or Hospice Wellington would be warmly appreciated for the top shelf care and services they provide.
