It is with great sadness that the family of Ettore D’Antonio
announces his passing on May 18, 2021. Ettore (Tony), in his
88th year passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, after a
brief and unexpected battle with cancer. Ettore will be deeply missed by
Giovanna, his wife of 67 years and his children Julio (JoAnn), Marisa
(John) and Rita. His grandchildren will remember fondly of their Nonno;
Jason, Stephen (Jennifer), Joel (Kim), Samantha, Kate, Joseph and
Sebastiano. He was the son of Giuseppe and Carmela and he has five
brothers; Domenico, Camillo, Alfredo, Attilio and Guerino.

Ettore loved to entertain his dear friends, thoroughly enjoying their
company while sharing a meal and dancing at the many parties in their basement. His
sense of humour was evident, even in his last days with his family as he still
cracked a joke and made us laugh. The time that Ettore spent with his friends was the
best medicine that he could have. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and
nephews who will miss his sense of humour. His favourite place was Acapulco,
where he and Giovanna spent over 40 winters making many memories and new friends. He
loved to sit on the balcony at the Santa Catalina Hotel enjoying the peaceful
view. Ettore’s greatest joy was his garden. He loved to spend time amongst his flowers
and vegetables where he enjoyed the fruits of his labour. He definitely had
a green thumb as was evident by his large and beautiful gardens. Ettore
immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1958 and made a wonderful life here for his family.
Ettore lived life to the fullest and he loved nothing more than having his family and
friends around him. He will be remembered with love and held closely in our
hearts. May he rest in peace in the eternal garden of our Lord.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Shafir and Nurse Laura and
the compassionate and supportive palliative team who supported Ettore and
his family during this very difficult time. Special thanks to the staff at the
Guelph General Hospital who took such wonderful care of him during his stay. We are so
grateful for the many prayers that have been extended from our dear friends and
family during this time.

A private funeral service for Ettore will be held on Friday, May 21,
2021 at 1 p.m. at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin
Chapel, 252 Dublin St N, Guelph. The funeral will be available to watch live
through ZOOM using the link available on the funeral home website.
