Davidson James MM

Of Guelph, passed away peacefully at the Trillium Hospital Mississauga on Friday, January 29, 2021, at the age of 80 years. Beloved husband for 49 years of the late Margaret Davidson (2013).  Loving father of Mark (Melinda) of Spring Hill, Tennessee and Richard (Joanna) of Mississauga.  Proud Grandad of Kai, Connor, Olivia and Cameron.  Dear brother of Arnold (Anne), Sammy (Mary), Jackie (Irene), Billy and Tom (Linda) and brother-in-law to Betty Mason (Norman), Anna Peddle (Rick), Tom Doherty (Mary), Seamus Doherty (Isabel), Rosaleen Flynn (Tony), Michael Doherty (Anne Marie).  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in Canada, USA, Northern Ireland, England and many dear friends.  A special thank you to the staff at both Port Credit Residences and Trillium Hospital Mississauga for all of your compassion and kindness.

Jim was born in 1940 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.  As a young boy, he enjoyed spending time with his siblings and the family dog as well as exploring either on his own or with the Boy Scouts.  As a young man, he relocated to England where he married Margaret and where Mark and Richard were born.  In 1979 the family immigrated to Guelph, Ontario, Canada.  His work life at Hammond Manufacturing was the source of many great friends.  Over the years he held several roles in the employee association and was very proud to have served his colleagues.  In retirement, Jim and Margaret enjoyed travelling to Cuba, Tennessee (Indiana by mistake), England and Northern Ireland to relax and connect with friends and family. After over 40 years in Guelph Jim recently moved to Port Credit to be closer to his son Richard and his family.

Anyone who spent time with Jim knew he had quite a sense of humour.  The great thing about his jokes was that you would be guaranteed to hear them again and again!  His antics and jovial spirit continued right up until the end.

Also, anyone who knew Jim knew that following driving directions was challenging and that he and Margaret were notorious for getting lost.  We're confident that he's on his way to heaven but Dad, if you're reading this and it's getting really hot, turn around...YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held in both Guelph and the UK at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051
