Mel passed away peacefully at Guelph General Hospital on Sunday November 13, 2022.  Thirty-three years to the day his son Victor passed.

Mel was born on July 24, 1937 to Jennie (nee McKee) and Albert Davis, Montreal, Quebec. Resident of Guelph for more than 70 years.

Mel is survived by his son, Greg Davis, (Carol).  Mel will be dearly missed by Adair Hanna, very best companion of 50 years, and her children Stephen (Cathy), Deborah (Elio) Turchet and Kendall (Kathy).  He was Grumpa to Jacqueline (Simon) Weresch, Nathan (Blaire) Hanna, Ashley (Brad) Smith, Jessica Turchet (Mike Groves), Michael Turchet, Stephanie Turchet, Andrew Hanna (Erica Doyle) and Zachary Hanna. They have many special memories of the adventures they experienced over the years. Mel was also Great Grumpa to nine.

Mel loved to regale family and friends with stories that he always found extremely humorous (tears running down his face with an infectious laugh).  All his great stories seemed to start with “when I was eleven years old”.

Over the years Mel was involved with Coaching Swimming, Victor Davis memorial, organ transplant and being a proud union man with Unifor Local 1917, (CAW), and (National Standard).  Mel’s adventures included travel through Canada, the United States and Europe with Adair. He loved camping, sailing, swimming, reading, and most of all driving. (Grumpa's Taxi!!!)

The family would like to thank the excellent care and attention he received from the Emergency Department and 4W of the Guelph General Hospital.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 1-3 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital or Swimming Canada – The Victor Davis Memorial Fund.
Please help save a life; sign your organ donation card.

A tree will be planted in memory of Melvyne (Mel) V. Davis in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
