Anna Theresa DeForest (nee Coulson), age 84 passed away peacefully on December 11, 2023 at Riverside Glen in Guelph, ON with her family by her side. She was born on July 10, 1939 in Mount Forest, ON to Leo and Margaret Coulson. During her career, Anna worked in administration at the University of Guelph and later studied there, earning a B.A. in 1974. She also lived and worked in Calgary, AB before returning to Guelph, where she continued to work in administrative positions, the most notable as fundraising coordinator at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Anna is survived by her beloved son, Stephen (Renata), Guelph, brothers Wilf (the late Ethel Sparks), Brantford, ON, Frank (Louise), Calgary, and sister Louise Wachsmann, Deep River, ON. She treasured her grandchildren Maja and Zach, both of Guelph, and embraced every moment with them, loving her role as Grammie. She will be remembered fondly by her nieces & nephews Jana (Paul) Purdy of Seattle, WA, Michael (Leanne) Coulson of Brantford, Jeff Wachsmann (Jennifer McCarthy) of Roberts Creek, BC, Dave Coulson of Calgary, and Melanie Coulson of Brantford. Anna also leaves behind great nephew and niece Liam and Anna Purdy both of Seattle.
We would like to thank the staff (too many to mention) at Riverside Glen, Eramosa for their care and patience with Anna over the last 10 months. Their kindness did not go unnoticed.
There will be no visitation. Interment of ashes will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mount Forest at a later date, followed by a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Benevolent Fund at Riverside Glen.
