Posted

DEGAN Peter Anthony

Of Rockwood, at the age of 51 years, died peacefully after an arduous journey related to health on the evening of August 29, 2019.

Pete was an avid outdoorsman, an accomplished competitive shooter, and a Canadian patriot. He served the Ministry of the Solicitor General for over 25 years in a number of progressively responsible positions, including Provincial Co-ordinator of the Crisis Negotiator program.  His last assignment was as a Senior Staff Development Officer.  He was a man of principle and was held in esteem by all who knew him.

He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife Robyn Degan, and her daughter Karina. Everyone who knows Pete and Robyn knew they had a great love, and were the best of friends, whose time together was sadly cut short. He is also survived by his mother Barbara Degan (Felix Degan 2008), sisters Diana and Monica, along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

It is with sincere gratitude that the family extend their thanks to the staff at Guelph General Hospital, London University Hospital, and St. Mary’s Hospital for the compassion and efforts to support him while under their care.

Visitation will take place at Lakeside Church, 7654 Conservation Rd., Guelph ON, N1H 6J1, on Wednesday September 4, 2019 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Church on the following day, September 5, 2019, at 11 AM.

The family ask that instead of flowers, donations be made to the Guelph Humane Society in his honour.

The sun has set, and the Cowboy is on his journey to meet the Keeper of the Stars.

A tree will be planted in memory of Peter A. Degan in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 2:30 pm.
