DETWEILER, Ross Alexander

Detweiler Ross

Peacefully, with the knowledge of how much we all loved him, our dad passed away at Wellington Terrace, Fergus on Tuesday April 19, 2022, at the age of 88.

Ross was the beloved husband of the late Gwen (2017). He will live on in the hearts of his children Susan Osborne (John), Ross Detweiler (late Sara), Patti Scott (Dave), Dan Detweiler and step-daughter Lynne Black (Bill). Dear brother of Ralph and Murray and the late Don, Jean, Wanda, Neil, Gaele, Betty and Barry. Predeceased by parents Harold and Ruby. He was the cherished grandfather of 9 and great grandfather of 7. He will be fondly remembered by friends, neighbours and acquaintances. We would also like to thank the nurses and PSWs of Walnut Glen Neighbourhood at Wellington Terrace for their compassion and dedication during dad’s time there.

Dad was a strong, determined, hard working man who, by example, instilled those same qualities in each of his children. He was organized and could fix practically anything. He loved his cottage on Bear Lake, which he built himself on land that he cleared in 1966. He loved flowers, and our childhood home where he lived until January, was the prettiest on the street. He loved animals and birds and enjoyed feeding his “little buddies”. We are all so immensely proud of everything he accomplished in his life and will miss him beyond measure.

A private graveside service was held at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception/gathering at GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph, in the lower level Trillium Room on Monday, May 2, 2022, at 12:00 p.m.

If desired, memorial contributions made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada 1-800-616-8816 would be appreciated. We invite you to leave your memories and donations online at www.gilchristchapel.com, and they will be forwarded to the family.
