DiCARLO, Nicholas (Nick)

Posted

DiCarlo Nick

In his 92 year was called to the plate for one last at bat on the morning of April 18th, 2022.

Nick was born eleventh of twelve children to parents Filomeno and Rosaria DiCarlo. Predeceased by sisters Grace, Ange, Lucy, Mary, Margie, Emma and brothers Mike, John, Ernie and Tony. He is survived by youngest brother Freddy.

Nick was a loving husband of 63 years to his lovely wife Mary (Malison), caring and dedicated dad to daughters Cathy (Fred) and Susan (John) and doting Papa to his adored and cherished grandchildren Brittany (Dan), Michael (Fran), Adam, Amanda, Chloe and great grandchildren Riley and Carter. His family was his pride and joy and never missed a moment to be present.

Uncle Nicky will be missed by many wonderful nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who he had many fond memories for and most notably had treasured nicknames for.

For many years Sunday lunches at the ‘65’ homestead were spent with the growing family.
Nick found his passion for baseball as a young boy and didn’t take that glove off well into adulthood. Nick could be found at the ballfield exhibiting his many talents resulting in many Hall of Fame inductions (4). He enjoyed much success in his ball career and developed many lasting friendships which extended into visiting Antique Car Shows, afternoon card games with his long-time buddies, breakfast dates with family and friends, afternoon coffee outings and receiving the morning newspaper by a very special paper boy.

Many thanks to Bayshore Nurses for their continued and dedicated support and showing compassionate care for Nick the last couple of years. Special thanks to nurse Faith and Dr. Sid for their wonderful kindness towards Nick and his family.

To honour Nicks memory, treat a young person to a ball game and let them experience the joy of the game through Nicks eyes. ‘No analytics, no replays and no stats’.

In keeping with dads wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will follow. Arrangements entrusted with Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin Street, North, Guelph.
Remember, ‘there is no crying in baseball’.
