Passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on January 29, 2017.
Beloved husband of Hilda for 55 years. Loving father of Gerrit (Jenny), Sita (Dave), Henk (Debbie) and Dirk (Shannon). Cherished Opa of Samantha (Travis), Vanessa (Shayne), Michelle, Chantel (Michael), Krista, Matthew and Michael. Proud Great Opa of Colton. He was a special uncle to Jan (Lia) and their daughters. Gerrit will be remembered by brothers Henk and Jan and sisters Marie and Dora, all of Holland. He is predeceased by brother Dirk and sister Annie.
Gerrit was a farmer for his entire life. After immigrating to Canada in 1978, he pursued his passion of farming and his love of dairy farming.
Family and friends may visit at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, Fergus on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the Palmerston Christian Reformed Church, 400 White’s Road, Palmerston, Ontario on Friday February 3, 2017 at 11:00am.
