Joan Fischer picture

Mrs. Joan Fischer passed away peacefully at the Guelph General
Hospital on Monday, May 10, 2021 at the age of 88 years. Beloved
wife of the late Ted Fischer (2013). Loving mother of Edward (Jennifer),
Sandra Rogina (Lloyd) of Regina, SK, Robert, Joseph and the late Paul
(1987), late Thomas and his son Blake (2003) and late Michael (2013)
and his daughter Melissa (2019). Cherished grandmother of many
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survived by her sister Hazel
Kreller and dear friend of Joanne Welsh, Holly Wolfond, Debbie Watt
and Jane Atkinson. Predeceased by her brothers Earl, Doug, Don and
Gary Parkes and her parents Mel and Alice (née Ferguson) Parkes.

Joan will be fondly remembered for her exemplary zest for life, her big
heart, and her joyful spirit. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife,
mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was funny and fierce,
the life of many parties, and many parties there were.

She married Ted in 1952 and together they raised their 7 children in the
Guelph area. She drove a school bus for many years and the kids
affectionately called her Ma.

Her and Ted wisely created an inviting and welcoming space at their home
for family and friends to spend time at. Over many summers we crowded
their backyard for pool parties, BBQ's and cool treats. It was a family
hub. Joan and Ted also attended all the milestone celebrations, special
events, and many outings with all their grandchildren, and then great
grandchildren.

Joan was involved in many activities over the years. She enjoyed
basketball and teaching ceramics in her earlier years. In retirement,
she could be found performing in shows at the Senior's Centre and
volunteering at the Legion and local MS group. Her and Ted traveled
quite a bit, always up for a new adventure. She had many dear friends
and got together with them frequently.

She was loyal, fun, and lived the journey of life fully. We all love her
and will miss her beyond words.
