On the evening of September 9, 2022 our beloved Matthew Daniel Framst was taken from us just two days after his 19th birthday. He was killed in a tragic accident just a few blocks from home. He was an extraordinary guy who never stopped living life to the max. He was one of a kind. He never said no to an adventure, and he always had the biggest, brightest smile.

He leaves behind his devastated family and friends. Parents Mike and Tania, beloved brothers Jackson, Isaac, and sister-in-law Nadia Ingriselli. Grandparents Joan and Gordon Framst (Guelph) and Janice and David Stratton (Shediac, NB). Aunts and uncles Matthew Daniel Rushton (Fredericton, NB), Fraser and Rhiannon Rushton (Moncton, NB), Janine Framst (Toronto), David Framst and Jill Carter (Stratford), Chuck and Tricia Stratton (Guelph), Lori and Maurice Cormier (Riverview, NB) and special Papa Ray and Auntie Dorilla (Riverview, NB).

He will be dearly missed by cousins Nathan and Connor Framst, Anna and Matias Dalton, Aubrey and Ivy Rushton, Carter and Mackenzie Stratton, Michell Edmunds and her son Ayden.

Matt was loved like a son by the Legge, Milijasevic, Filer, Scott, and Saunders families.

Matt’s friends were his whole world - Vann, Rob, Will, Julia, Izzy, and countless others are hurting as much as we are.

His 'mediocre' dog Luci will also desperately miss “her boy.”

Matt was an adrenaline chaser from birth, an escape artist from cribs and baby gates, rode a two-wheeler over jumps at three, scaled buildings with his brother Jack, and loved RC cars and airplanes, basketball, mountain biking, snowboarding and especially skateboarding. He spent countless hours at skateparks in and around Guelph. He loved music and playing the same three songs over and over on the piano while his friends patiently waited. Matt loved tinkering in the garage with his dad and could fix almost anything, and as he got older, cars and motorcycles became his passion. Most of all, he loved the family’s many camping and portage trips.

School was never his thing, but he had caring support at St. James C.H.S., especially from Mr. Mac and Mr. Mattucci, who encouraged his love of auto mechanics. Last spring, he started working at Michael’s Automotive for the past few months. He felt confident, supported, and excited to get his official uniform and was looking forward to starting an apprenticeship.

Matthew fiercely loved his family and his friends. He was pure and utter joy. And we love him so.

We are gutted, but we will honour Matt by creating lives of joy and adventure. We hope you will honour him by saying yes to scary things, jumping off the high rock into the lake, learning how to change your oil, trying a new trick on your skateboard and loving well.

Matt loved people, he loved parties, and he loved dancing oh so much. Please join us for an Open House to celebrate the joy of Matt’s life on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Arboretum Centre, University of Guelph. Wear bright colours and bring your dancing shoes. This will be followed by a “skate” in Matt’s honour at the Guelph Skate Park.

In lieu of flowers, a Go Fund Me has been set up to support the family and Matthew’s wishes for improvements to the Guelph Skate Park, specifically to work with the City of Guelph to install a water fountain and refill station. Link can be found on his memorial page at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com

We are incredibly grateful to the witnesses who stayed with Matt at the scene and to the first responders and hospital staff who treated us with grace and care. We ask for compassion for the other young driver involved.
