FURFARO, Annunziato

Passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on May 27, 2022, at the age of 62. Beloved husband of Colleen for 38 years. Loving father of Melissa (Francis), Matthew and Michael (Stacey). Adored Nonnu to Max and Olivia.

Predeceased by his parents, Annunziato and Vincenza (Sorbara). Loving brother of the late Dominic and late Carmela Furfaro, the late Nancy and late Vincenzo Raso, Stella and the late Rudolpho Beltrame, Angelo and Carmela Furfaro, Rocco and Brenda Furfaro, Tony and Betty Furfaro, Jim and Nancy Furfaro, Michael Furfaro and Michelle MacLean, Mary and John McGimsie and George and Laura Furfaro. Special brother-in-law to Julie Furfaro and Denise Toulouse. Loved son-in-law of Anne and the late Gerald Lyle and brother-in-law to Geraldine and Blaise Lyle. "Uncle Ned" will always hold a very special place in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews.

Ned was the youngest of 11 children. His parents and 8 oldest siblings immigrated to Canada from San Giorgio Morgeto, Italy. Ned attended Sacred Heart School and it was there, in Grade 2, that he first met Colleen. Ned and Colleen grew up together in the Ward and they both formed many friendships with the neighbourhood families. They officially started dating in 1975, when Ned was attending John F Ross High School and Colleen was at Bishop MacDonnell High School. They married on August 6, 1983 at Sacred Heart Church. Their love story spans many decades and has been an inspiration to their children. They are a true example of "endless love."

Ned was a proud member of his union, Local 527. He finished his apprenticeship in steamfitting and began working at Sutherland-Schulz in 1984. He stayed there for 27 years before moving onto MWS Solutions in 2011, where he worked up until a few weeks ago. Ned took great pride in his work and was a mentor to many young tradespeople. Over the span of his career, Ned became like family to many of his colleagues. He will be so missed.

Ned was the true definition of selfless. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He was fiercely proud of his children and all of their accomplishments. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He truly loved being a Nonnu and cherished every moment with Max and Olivia. Ned was happiest when his home was filled with family and friends, good food and lots of laughter.

He will be greatly missed by his "Ward" and "ICC" boys, with whom he shared many stories and a lot of espresso. Ned was always there with profound advice, a witty one-liner or a great story to tell.

Ned was truly an unforgettable man. His presence and big smile always filled a room. He was humble, respected, proud and incredibly strong. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know him.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the healthcare workers who assisted with Ned's care over the past 3 years: Dr. Robinson and all of the nursing staff at the Chemotherapy and Ambulatory Care clinics at Guelph General Hospital, Dr. Molckovsky at Grand River Hospital, Dr. Mujoomdar and Dr. Skaro at London Health Sciences Centre, Dr. Marcaccio and Dr. Serrano at Juravinski Hospital, the staff at ParaMed Guelph and the nurses (especially Catrina) at Bayshore Home Health.

The family will receive friends at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son-Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 2 pm to 9 pm. Funeral Mass at 11 am on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Sacred Heart Church, 98 Alice St., Guelph. Entombment Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum, Marymount Cemetery.
