1932 to 2021
Passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2021. Joan was the much loved wife of David Stanley Gaines for 67 years, loving Mum of Carol-Ann Sorbara (Chris) and Adrian Gaines (Cathy) all of Guelph. She was also proud Nana to Lauren Sorbara (Jeremy) and Logan Gaines. Great– Grandmother (GiGi) to Audrey and Seth Langedyk, Carson Gaines, and Noah and Eden Teschke. Joan was deeply loved and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and many friends here and “across the pond”.
Joan came to Canada in 1966 and was a successful businesswoman and entrepreneur who will be remembered from Avon, Sarah Coventry, Les Parfums Monique, Jazz Accessories and Homewood Health Center.
Joan was a shining star—a beautiful, graceful, and loving woman. She touched many lives with her unconditional love and exceptional spirit. Cremation has taken place.
Due to Covid, there will be a small family service only. Hopefully in the near future we can get together to give her the send off she so richly deserves. Memorial donations to the Guelph Food Bank, 100 Crimea St. Guelph ON N1H 2Y6 (519-767-1380) would be appreciated.
