It is with deep sadness, the family announce the passing of Mavis Magdalene Zuccala on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at La Pointe Fisher Nursing Home, Guelph, ON in her 95th year.

Born in Ceylon/Hardy, Saskatchewan on August 29, 1927. She was the daughter of Leo and Margaret (Mitchell) Givens.

Mavis is survived by her children, Joseph, Rosemarie McIntyre, Ralph (Donna 2012) Joanne Easton (Robert), Augustine (Nancy) and by her 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mavis was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, Mavis was predeceased by her husband Ralph Sr. (2016) and by her sisters, Leota, Vila, Doris, Eloise and Joyce and by her brothers, Harry, Wilford, Jim, Adelbert and Gilbert.

Mavis was employed with the Wellington County Separate School Board as a caretaker for over 25 years. She was a long time member of Sacred Heart Church Parish in Guelph and a member of the CWL for over 60 years. Serving in many capacities including President.

Mavis was the glue that held our family together and we all learned what it means to be loyal to those you love and still be true to yourself.

She will be missed.

Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, where the family will receive their friends on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held in the Hart Chapel on Friday, January 28th, 2022, at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow with entombment of cremated remains in Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum, Marymount Cemetery, Guelph, at a later date.
