For weeks, we spent day and night, at Mom's side, surrounding her with love, prayers, music and memories. We laughed, we sang, we prayed, and we held her hands. Then, quietly, Mom passed into heaven on Sunday, July 24, 2022.

Deanne Jean Edith (McKenna) Goetz was born in Guelph on January 25, 1938 to Tom & Jean (McNaughton) McKenna.

It was in Guelph that she met and married the love of her life, Leonard E. Goetz in 1956. Dad predeceased her in 2000.

Deanne was a loving and joyful Mother, who will forever be cherished by her daughters Debbie (Terry) Lamont, Dixie Goetz, Wendy (David) Kratzer, Elaine (Shawn) Gillan and the late Lee Goetz (1959). Mom always said, “There is no greater love than that of a mother.” We believe her wholeheartedly and, in return, we loved her with all our hearts.

Mom also enjoyed the love of her grandchildren Ryan (Kassandra) and Marisa Lamont; Shane, Mitchell, Bradley & Bryce Kratzer; Scott & Justin Gillan. Mom delighted in being a Great-Grandmother to Colson Lamont.

Deanne was a dear sister to Janice Poole (Charles Boudreau) of Guelph. She was pre-deceased by her sister Virginia Briestensky (2006), brother Ronnie McKenna (2013) and sister Jean (Pat) Brennan (1996).

Deanne valued her relationships with her nieces and nephews. She also cherished her 50-year friendship with Velda Siciliano (Thunder Bay) and a 60-year friendship with Amelia Straddiotto (Guelph).

A Funeral Mass will be held at the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, Guelph on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome. A private burial will follow. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre and Son, 252 Dublin Street, Guelph, ON.

For those who would like to remember Deanne, please consider a donation to Hospice Wellington. They provided amazing care and comfort to us all in Mom’s final days.
