Passed away at the Guelph General Hospital on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at the age of 85 years.
Beloved wife of Wendell Gogol. Loving mother of Bonnie Campbell (Linus), Karen Campbell (Kevin), Allan Campbell (Susan) and step-son Rob Gogol (Danielle). Cherished grandmother of Matt, Tom (Kelly), Katie (Chris), Alexandra (Matt), Gillian (Mike), Myles (Hayley), Heidi and Alicia (Taylor). Great grandmother to Tessa, Ellie, Brady, Finn, Ayla, Ben and Sophia. Survived by her siblings Jean Cote, Mel Mawdsley (the late Marie), Jack Mawdsley (Marlene), Mary Cochrane (Earl) and Dorothy McIlravey (Chuck) and her brother-in-law Elgin Gogol (Gladys). Predeceased by her parents John and Olive Mawdsley (nee Burton) and her siblings Ollie Henry (Jim), Glen Mawdsley (Diane) and Norma Thor (the late Chris).
Shirley was one of nine children born into a farming family. After a number of years farming and managing a golf course, Shirley made her home in Guelph where she was a business woman and surgical nurse. She also enjoyed gardening and was an active church member and volunteer. Shirley’s main focus was always on providing constant love and support to her family and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Shirley’s family will receive relatives and friends for visitation on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Brombal Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph. On Saturday, November 4, 2023 visitation will take place at the Salvation Army Guelph Citadel, 1320 Gordon Street at 10:00 a.m. and a service will be held at 11:00 am. Reception will follow. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph.
