GREEN, Gladys Margaret (nee Gruer)

Posted

Green Gladys MM

Gladys passed away peacefully Feb. 7th 2022 at the Spencer House LTC in Orillia, in the company of family.

Born in 1925 and in her 97th year the steady decline of Dementia this past year reached its culmination. Predeceased by her husband Edmund (2016) of over 64 years, cherished mother to sons David, Thomas and Scott (Angela).

Glady was the last sibling of seven Gruers, which itself holds special meaning, but her positive outlook, beautiful spirit and absence of complaint made her a favourite among her many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ed and Glad moved from Windsor to Guelph in the late 70’s where they settled permanently and here established a wide circle of dear friends and acquaintances. An acknowledged artist and instructor in oils, watercolours, clay and wood carving throughout her life, Glady often received inspiration from a cherished summer location on Red Pine Lake in the Haliburton Highlands where much time was spent raising her family, spending time with her own brothers and sister and families and of course painting. This small, boat access lake, very much created an extended family of those lake neighbors which is now several generations. Glady worked in retail, enjoyed international travel with husband Ed and

volunteered at the Guelph Hospital in retirement.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.

For those who wish and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington.
