June 3, 1961 – June 3, 2023
Janice Diane Greenwood (nee Borr) passed away suddenly June 3 in Guelph, Ontario. Janice gave so much of herself to others and will always have a place in the memories of everyone who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Jaime, her son, Robert, and daughter-in-law, Rachael McMunn. Janice will also live on through her siblings Linda Barron (Scott) and Allan Borr, mother and father-in-law Anita and Ronald Greenwood and sisters-in-law Rhonda (John Lenchak) and Allison (David Robinson). She is predeceased by her parents, Bernice and Mitchell Borr. Janice also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Volumes could easily be written about Janice and the person she was. What will be remembered most is how she radiated warmth and love, and her ability to make anyone feel instantly welcome and at-ease within minutes of meeting her.
She was the common thread when it came to bringing people together. Wherever Janice went, there was laughter and kindness. If you were coming for a visit, you never left hungry.
She lived an active life – enjoying summers on the water, and winters on the ski slopes or at the rink. Janice spent her youth as a competitive figure skater and shared her passion with the local children she taught to skate over the years.
As an accomplished scientist with a PhD in microbiology, Janice contributed to over a dozen research papers and was highly respected by her peers around the globe.
Janice created a warm, supportive home for her family and friends. She was fiercely proud of Robert, and secretly loved it whenever Jaime dragged her along to look at ATV parts.
If you needed life advice, Janice would be ready with a compassionate ear, comforting hug, and warm cup of tea. If there was a problem to be solved, she was the first out of the gate with a plan.
Janice never judged and didn’t jump to conclusions – she always made you feel like you were the only one who mattered in that moment.
She will be in our hearts forever.
Janice is resting at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph. Family and friends are invited to the funeral service Tuesday, June 13th at 2:00 p.m. A reception with refreshments will follow between 2:30 – 4:30.
