Peter passed away peacefully on May12, 2023 with his loving wife Marla close by his side, at Hospice Wellington in Guelph.

Peter is survived by his son Jamie Guillemette (Robin) from London, ON; sisters Michelle Guillemette, Louise Scripnick (Gary), and brothers Gil Guillemette (Rose) and Rick Guillemette (Karen) all still residing in Timmins.

Peter had struggled the last few months before passing, so Jamie and Robin moved in to help which made a huge difference in his wellbeing and in managing his care. Peter and Marla really appreciated their care.

Peter was a very athletic ‘Northern boy’ growing up in Timmins where he participated in many sports like football and basketball. As an adult he continued to enjoy fishing with family whenever he came North to Timmins, Downhill skiing (became a member at Caledon Ski Club in the Caledon Hills with Marla) and above all – golf. Peter and Marla joined RattleSnake Golf Club (ClubLink) and enjoyed many golf holidays and as Snowbirds were never far away from a golf club for the winter.

Marla and Peter met while working for the Peel Board of Education. Peter being an Elementary school principal and Marla an Elementary Teacher-Librarian. They married in Ocho Rios, Jamaica in 1997. Last summer, they celebrated their milestone 25th wedding anniversary in Paris and on a European river cruise.

Peter was an impactful educator and administrator. His students described him as being a great coach, an encouraging person and a very supportive teacher.

Marla and Peter’s love of travel took them to some exotic and wonderful destinations all over the world, including Bali, Thailand, New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii and Mexico to name a few.

Those that knew Peter knew that he loved to cook and bake, and his many friends enjoyed sampling his many desserts. He was so talented! If you were really lucky you got the complete meal deal. Peter’s love of cooking and baking tied in well with Marla and Peter’s love of entertaining.

Peter was a very kind and gentle soul who touched many lives in many ways. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a special and unique breed of gentleman, humble, thoughtful and very kind. It is with heavy hearts we mourn his loss.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date for family and close friends. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.

Memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society and Hospice Wellington would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of Peter E. Guillemette in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
