Of Guelph, passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 6 2020, at the age of 83 years. Beloved husband of the late Geraldine (2010). Loved father of Tracey, David (Lisa), Todd and the late Scott. Poppy will be sadly missed by Tara Lee, Meghan and Brayden. Predeceased by a sister Carol. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Ron was the founder of the “Hockey Shop”. He was a three time inductee of the Guelph Sports Hall of Fame. Friends will be received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Monday 7-9 p.m. & Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. A memorial service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated. Ron had a competitive fire with a heart of gold. Ron was an icon in the Guelph sports community for many decades. A tree will be planted in memory of Ronald E. Gumbley in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum.
