Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, October 4, 2021.
 
Doug leaves behind his wife Beth, children Lynn Passmore (Ian) of Guelph, Dan (Caitlin) Harris of Bowmanville and Liz (Tanya) Soares of Calgary. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Ivy, Juniper and Flora Passmore and Atticus and Adelaide Harris.  He is predeceased by his parents, John (Jack) Harris and Lilyan (Andrews) Harris.  Doug’s passing will be a great loss to his sister Debbie Harris and his brother John (Mary) Harris, all of London, Ontario. Doug also had a special place in the hearts of his sisters and brothers in-law as well as his many nieces and nephews.
 
Doug was born in London, Ontario on August 21, 1957.  Doug was a gifted athlete and as a youth was involved in minor hockey as well as high school hockey. He was recruited by Northern Michigan University to play Division 1 hockey.  After graduation Doug stayed on to become an Assistant Coach at NMU while pursuing a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology.  While studying in Michigan, Doug met his wife of 42 years, Beth Swanagan Harris.
 
Doug and his family moved to Guelph in 1997. He became a valued employee at Meducom International. Doug was an active member of Parkwood Gardens Community Church as well as being a familiar face at local arenas where he refereed hockey for many years. 
 
A memorial service will be held for Doug on October 16, 2021 at Parkwood Gardens Community Church, 501 Whitelaw Road, Guelph, Ontario.  Visitation will begin at 3:30 pm followed by the service at 4:30 pm. 
  
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Michael House Pregnancy and Parenting Support Services or Parkwood Gardens Community Church.
